Nielsen Automotive Group is a local family owned company with multiple locations. We are looking for an Alignment Technician for our Springfield, VA location. Automotive Technician Responsibilities:
- Perform two-wheel and four-wheel alignments using computerized alignment equipment.
- Inspect and diagnose steering, suspension, tire, and alignment-related concerns.
- Identify worn or damaged suspension and steering components that may prevent proper alignment.
- Perform repairs and replacement of components including tie rods, ball joints, control arms, wheel bearings, shocks, struts, and related parts.
- Diagnose concerns such as vehicle pulling, uneven tire wear, steering wheel vibration, off-center steering wheels, and handling issues.
- Perform tire inspections, rotations, balancing, and related tire services as needed.
- Conduct pre-alignment inspections to ensure the vehicle is mechanically capable of being properly aligned.
- Review alignment readings and verify that completed adjustments meet manufacturer specifications.
- Clearly document inspection findings, recommended repairs, and completed work on repair orders and digital vehicle inspections.
- Communicate with Service Advisors and management regarding vehicle conditions, repair recommendations, and additional work identified during inspections.
- Use diagnostic equipment, lifts, hand tools, power tools, and other shop equipment safely and properly.
- Perform general automotive maintenance and mechanical repairs as assigned based on experience and shop needs.
- Help maintain alignment equipment and notify management of equipment requiring calibration, maintenance, or repair.
- Complete assigned work efficiently while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
- Assist other technicians and shop personnel when necessary.
Automotive Technician Requirements:
- Previous professional automotive repair experience preferred.
- Experience performing wheel alignments strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of steering, suspension, tires, and vehicle handling systems.
- Ability to diagnose suspension and steering concerns accurately.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and understand manufacturer specifications and repair information.
- Ability to use automotive lifts, diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools safely.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to performing repairs correctly.
- ASE certifications are preferred but not required.
