Now Hiring: Diesel Mechanic / Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Anderson Underground is hiring an experienced Diesel Mechanic / Heavy Equipment Mechanic to support our underground utility construction operations out of Sauk Rapids, MN.
This is a hands-on mechanic role working on construction and utility equipment, including directional drills, plows, trucks, trailers, excavators, skid steers, backhoes, trenchers, and related field equipment.

Location: Sauk Rapids, MN

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Overtime: Available/expected during peak maintenance seasons

Travel: Occasional field service travel to job sites as needed

Per Diem: Paid when traveling, based on company policy

Vehicle: Company vehicle provided for work-related travel
What You’ll Do:

Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, and underground utility equipment.

Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and field repairs.

Work on hydraulic systems, diesel engines, electrical systems, emissions systems, and general mechanical repairs.

Support crews by helping reduce equipment downtime and keeping machines job-ready.

Communicate repair status, parts needs, and equipment issues with supervisors and crews.

Coordinate with outside repair shops or vendors when needed.

Maintain basic service records, repair notes, inspections, and work order documentation.
What We’re Looking For:

3+ years of diesel, heavy equipment, truck, trailer, or construction equipment mechanic experience.

Experience diagnosing and repairing hydraulic, electrical, diesel, and mechanical issues.

Ability to work independently and troubleshoot equipment issues without constant supervision.

Experience with construction equipment such as excavators, skid steers, backhoes, trenchers, drills, plows, or similar equipment.

Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Ability to travel to job sites occasionally as needed.

Ability to work overtime during peak maintenance seasons.

Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
Preferred Experience:
-
Class A CDL.

Experience working on directional drills, plows, or underground utility construction equipment.

Experience with Vermeer, Ditch Witch, CAT, John Deere, Bobcat, or similar equipment.

Technical or vocational training.
-
OSHA 10.
Experience using service manuals, diagnostic software, work orders, or maintenance tracking systems. This is a strong fit for an experienced mechanic who enjoys variety, can work independently, and wants a mix of shop work and field support while helping keep underground utility crews moving.
