Piano Teacher — Part-Time Independent Contractor

Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Piano Teacher to join our outstanding faculty. This is a part-time independent contractor position, beginning at one day per week (depending on student demand) with the opportunity to expand to two days as enrollment grows. Our team handles all student matching, scheduling, billing, facility logistics, and performance event coordination so that our teachers enjoy a seamless teaching experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, engaging piano instruction to students of varying ages and skill levels.
- Develop and adapt lesson plans tailored to each student’s goals, learning style, and musical interests.
- Teach across multiple genres, including classical, jazz, pop, as appropriate for each student.
- Maintain clear, consistent, and positive communication with students and their families regarding progress and goals.
- Participate in student performance opportunities facilitated by the academy.
- Collaborate professionally with fellow faculty and academy staff.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Piano Performance, Music Education, or a related field with substantial piano training. Preference for Master's degree in piano performance or equivalent piano performance and teaching expertise.
- Demonstrated experience teaching piano to students across a wide range of ages and levels, including classical, contemporary, jazz, etc.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with both students and families.
- Reliable, professional, and self-motivated with the ability to manage an independent contractor schedule.
Preferred
- Experience teaching young beginners, particularly children ages 5–8 and/or more advanced students.
- Proficiency and comfort teaching multiple genres (classical, jazz, contemporary, etc.).
- Prior experience in a music academy, conservatory, or private studio setting.

Schedule & Compensation
This position begins at one teaching day per week, with the possibility of expanding to two days based on student demand and mutual interest. As an independent contractor, you will set your own lesson structure within your designated teaching hours. Compensation is hourly and competitive within the Seattle music education market.
