A New York architecture practice is looking for a Design and Planning Department Head to lead design and planning activity across large and medium-scale residential and mixed-use developments with national project scope.
This role is focused on exterior design leadership, planning, presentation-quality graphics, zoning awareness, and managing design direction with support from the wider team.

The Role:
- Manage the design and planning department
- Lead exterior design direction across residential and mixed-use projects
- Prepare and organize graphic presentation materials
- Support design presentations with clear verbal communication
- Work with exterior wall systems, floor plan layouts, and structural interfaces
- Apply zoning code knowledge to massing alternatives and design development
- Produce or oversee presentation-quality renderings independently or with support
Requirements:
- Registered Architect
- 10+ years’ exterior design experience
- Experience with large or medium-scale residential and mixed-use developments
- Strong design and verbal presentation skills
- Understanding of exterior wall systems
- Familiarity with zoning codes and massing studies
- Ability to work with rendering engines for in-house presentation graphics
- Experience managing or leading a design/planning team
