At Perry Novak Electric we are seeking a skilled, reliable, and licensed Journeyman Electrician to join our team. In this role, you will install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. You will work independently and as part of a team, ensuring all work complies with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation & Wiring: Install, connect, and test electrical systems, fixtures, control apparatus, and equipment (e.g., conduits, wiring, switches, breakers, and transformers).
- Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
- Blueprint Reading: Interpret electrical blueprints, technical diagrams, schematics, and building specs to plan layout and installation.
- Code Compliance: Ensure all work meets NEC standards, state/local electrical codes, and OSHA safety guidelines.
- System Upgrades: Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair.
- Mentorship: Supervise and train apprentices or helpers on safety standards, electrical work, and practical application.
Qualifications & Skills
Requirements
- Licensure: Valid Journeyman Electrician License issued by the state of Iowa.
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years of proven experience in electrical work.
- Technical Proficiency: Deep working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), conduit bending, wire pulling, and load calculation.
- Physical Capability: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and stand or kneel for extended periods.
- Driver’s License: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
