Middle School Assistant Principal
COUNTRY CLUB HILLS SCHOOL DISTRICT 160 Country Club Hills, Illinois TITLE: Middle School Assistant Principal QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Master's Degree with training in administration, supervision, and curriculum development, preferably on the middle school level. 2. Illinois State Certification, Type 75, with general supervisory or general administrative endorsements. 3. Experience: a. Five years or more of successful teaching, support, administrative, or supervisory experience at the middle school level is preferred. b. Three years of successful experience in a certified position is required. 4. Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: a. Ability to exert strong leadership in the field of instruction and inspire superior performance in members of the staff. b. Ability to make firm decisions in the areas of responsibility and delegate responsibility to members of the staff. c. Knowledge of sound middle school educational programs. d. Ability to develop and implement educational plans and programs at the middle school level. e. Ability to create, develop, and implement new educational programs. f. Ability to function effectively as a member of the district's administrative team. REPORTS TO: Principal SUPERVISES: Directs and evaluates the work of: 1. Teachers 2. Secretaries 3. Custodians 4. Teacher Assistants IS A MEMBER OF: May serve on various task forces and committees as assigned. JOB GOAL: To assist the principal in providing school-wide leadership and to learn the role of the principal. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: (The following are the essential fundamentals to include but not limited to the following job duties.) 1. Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school. 2. Serves as a principal in the absence of the regular principal. 3. Proposes schedules of classes and extracurricular activities. 4. Supervises the preparation of student schedules. 5. Works with department heads and faculty in compiling the annual budget requests. 6. Requisitions supplies, textbooks, and equipment; conducts inventories; maintains records; and checks on receipts for such material. 7. Assists in safety inspections and safety drill practice activities. 8. Assumes responsibility for coordinating transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other support services. 9. Supervises the reporting and monitoring of student attendance, and works with the attendance supervisor for investigative follow-up actions. 10. Assists in maintaining discipline throughout the student body, and deals with special cases as necessary. 11. Serves with parents, faculty, and student groups as requested in advancing educational and related activities and objectives. 12. Administers the student insurance program. 13. Performs such record-keeping functions as the principal may direct. 14. Supervises teachers and departments as assigned by the principal. 15. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the principal may from time to time assign. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve month year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board. EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of his/her contract.
