Job Summary
The Property Accountant is responsible for satisfying all aspects of accounting within a specific portfolio of properties. This position reports to the Property Controller and works directly with Regional and Property Management to analyze property results and performance.
Essential Job Functions

Models and instills company mission and values

Monthly closing of financial ledgers

Completes timely bank reconciliations

Reviews and analyzes ledger accounts

Reviews budgets and plans forecasting

Submits quarterly reporting to State Agencies

Completes financial reporting package
-
Addresses and resolves audit requests
-
Responds to inquiries from regional and property managers
-
Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
-
Minimum of 5 years of property accounting experience
-
USDA rural development accounting experience preferred

Working knowledge of Yardi or other property accounting software
-
Understanding of state agency reporting

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

Understanding of tenant rent activities, including collections

Strong financial acumen and critical thinking skills
-
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
-
Ability to interpret data and recommend performance-enhancing actions

Knowledge of capital expenditures and qualifications for reserve accounts

Excellent interpersonal skills

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, action-oriented environment

Ability to establish relationships across the organization and at various hierarchical levels
