Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse Supervisor to lead and coordinate nursing care within our healthcare facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, extensive clinical expertise, and a comprehensive understanding of various medical disciplines including critical care, geriatrics, pediatrics, and behavioral health. This role involves overseeing nursing staff, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA standards, and maintaining high-quality patient care across diverse settings such as acute care and long-term care environments. The Registered Nurse Supervisor will play a pivotal role in managing patient assessments, medical documentation, medication administration, and utilization review to support optimal health outcomes.
Duties
- Supervise and coordinate nursing staff to ensure delivery of safe, effective patient care in accordance with established protocols and standards.
- Oversee patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations utilizing advanced medical terminology and anatomy knowledge.
- Manage medication administration, IV infusion, catheterization, tube feeding, wound suturing, phlebotomy, and sterile procedures while ensuring aseptic techniques are followed.
- Utilize EMR/EHR systems such as PointClickCare
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations including laboratory experience, medical imaging interpretation, sonography, spinal taps, and cardiac catheterization procedures.
- Lead infection control initiatives and ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for discharge planning, case management, health coaching, occupational health services, and working with people with disabilities or developmental disabilities.
- Ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Provide training on basic life support (BLS), IV insertion/injection techniques, sterile processing procedures, Hoyer lift operation for mobility assistance, and other clinical skills.
- Monitor staff performance through supervising experience metrics while fostering a collaborative team environment focused on continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license with current state licensure.
- Extensive clinical experience in LTC setting
- Proven leadership or nurse management experience supervising nursing teams in diverse healthcare environments.
- Strong knowledge of physiology principles related to patient assessment and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Experience working with vulnerable populations such as geriatrics (memory care/Alzheimer’s/dementia care), behavioral health patients or individuals with disabilities.
- Competency in infection control practices and aseptic techniques.
- Excellent communication skills for team management and interdisciplinary collaboration.
