Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Site Safety and Health Officer to oversee and enforce safety protocols across construction sites. This vital role ensures compliance with all relevant safety regulations, promotes a culture of safety awareness, and minimizes risks associated with construction activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of occupational health standards, and hands-on experience managing safety on active construction projects. Your dedication will help safeguard workers, visitors, and the surrounding environment while supporting project timelines and quality standards. MUST have 5 years experience in SSHO role on USACE jobs, current CPR/First Aid certification, and current OSHA certification.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive safety plans aligned with construction site safety regulations, ANSI standards, OSHA requirements, NFPA standards, and NEC guidelines.
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify hazards related to electrical safety procedures, occupational health concerns, and general construction workplace safety regulations.
- Lead safety training sessions for all personnel, including first aid and CPR certification programs, ensuring team members understand proper safety practices and emergency procedures.
- Manage incident investigations by documenting accidents or near-misses, analyzing root causes, and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate with construction management teams to ensure compliance management processes are followed throughout the project lifecycle.
- Oversee risk management strategies by assessing potential hazards related to construction management activities and implementing mitigation measures.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, incident reports, and regulatory compliance documentation using construction management software.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of construction site safety management practices and construction workplace safety regulations.
- Strong understanding of occupational health principles and OSHA standards applicable to construction environments.
- Proven experience in risk management, hazard identification, and implementing effective mitigation strategies.
- Skilled in conducting safety training programs including NFPA standards, electrical safety procedures, first aid, and CPR certifications.
- Excellent team leadership abilities with the capacity to influence a culture of safety across diverse teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and construction management software for recordkeeping and reporting purposes.
- Ability to interpret ANSI standards, NEC codes, OSHA regulations, and other relevant safety guidelines to ensure ongoing compliance.
