SUMMARY
The Wheel Finishing Team Member plays a key role in the final stages of the cheese production process. This position is responsible for executing all aspects of the wheel treatment process, including the handling of aged cheese wheels and preparation of finished, treated products. The role also involves performing routine and periodic sanitation of equipment, ensuring strict adherence to food safety standards, and maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Success in this role requires attention to detail, a commitment to quality, and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team. This is a 3rd shift position working Sunday through Thursday, 11:00pm to 7:00am. Base pay is $20.00 per hour, plus an additional $4 per hour shift premium for 3rd shift.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Performs cleaning and sanitation of equipment, tools, and workspace in accordance with the master sanitation schedule.
- Follows standard operating procedures by conducting assigned production and sanitation tasks in strict adherence to established work instructions, safety guidelines, and sanitation protocols to ensure product integrity and regulatory compliance.
- Moves and stages cheese and materials into designated work areas. Maintains product traceability and supports a smooth production flow.
- Performs quality inspections by conducting visual inspections of cheese and packaging materials for mold, debris, or other foreign substances. Promptly reports any non-conformances to ensure quality standards are met.
- Accurately fills soaking bins with correctly sized cheese wheels and specified ingredients. Follows precise formulations to prepare for treatment processes.
- Carefully applies rub ingredients to cheese wheels by hand. Ensures consistent coverage in accordance with production specifications.
- Handles cheese for drying and packaging by safely transferring treated cheese wheels onto racks.
- Accurately decorates cheese wheels with labels and visual elements as outlined by customer and brand specifications. Maintains a high level of attention to detail.
- Utilizes scanning technology by issuing and tracking cheese inventory to work orders using barcode scanners or similar devices. Maintains accurate production records and inventory control.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalency is preferred (GED).
- Food manufacturing experience or experience working in a converting facility is desirable.

While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member will occasionally be exposed to extreme, non-weather-related cold as well as wet and/or humid conditions. On a typical workday, the Team Member will work in refrigerated conditions with temperatures ranging from 35-60 degrees. The Team Member will work around safeguarded machinery with rotating, mechanical parts, and conveyor belts. The Team Member will occasionally be exposed to caustic and/or toxic chemicals used for sanitation and cleaning. Due to the loud noise levels, ear protection is required.
