Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Spanish-speaking Legal Assistant to join our dynamic legal team. Duties
- Assist attorneys with legal research, case management, and document review across multiple practice areas.
- Draft legal documents including pleadings, correspondence, reports, and client communications with precision and clarity.
- Manage and maintain electronic and physical files using document management systems like smokeball; ensure confidentiality at all times.
- Conduct interviews with clients and witnesses in Spanish to gather case information accurately and empathetically.
- Support litigation processes by preparing discovery materials, organizing exhibits, and assisting in legal support activities.
- Utilize Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research tools to gather pertinent case law and procedural information.
- Coordinate appointments, schedule meetings, and provide executive administrative support to attorneys as needed.
- Handle data entry, filing, proofreading, and general administrative tasks efficiently to keep the office running smoothly.
- Communicate professionally with clients via phone or email while demonstrating excellent phone etiquette and organizational skills.
Skills
- Fluency in both Spanish and English is essential for effective client communication and document translation.
- Strong knowledge of various legal areas including personal injury, worker's compensation, family law, divorce and criminal.
- Proven experience with legal case management software such as PCLaw and document management systems like iManage; familiarity with Westlaw and LexisNexis is highly desirable.
- Excellent legal research skills combined with the ability to analyze procedural laws across different jurisdictions.
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail for managing multiple cases simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for drafting documents and managing schedules.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information responsibly while maintaining professionalism at all times.
- Strong writing skills for drafting clear legal documents and correspondence; proofreading accuracy is critical.
- Experience supporting attorneys in general litigation is preferred.
- Effective interviewing techniques coupled with excellent client communication skills in both Spanish and English.
