Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations of the automotive service department, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality service delivery
- Lead, motivate, and develop a team of technicians and service advisors to meet performance goals and uphold customer satisfaction standards
- Oversee vehicle diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance including oil changes, brake repairs, transmissions, suspension work, tire services, alignments, shocks & struts, air brakes, diesel engine repairs, and collision repair processes
- Utilize estimating software for accurate job costing and service writing to ensure profitability while maintaining transparency with customers
- Upsell additional services or repairs by identifying customer needs through effective communication and technical expertise
- Maintain compliance with safety standards and dealership policies while managing cash handling and administrative tasks
- Foster strong client relationships through clear communication, professional client consultations, and exceptional service experiences
- Monitor inventory levels for parts and supplies essential for automotive repair tasks
- Stay current with automotive industry trends, diagnostic tools, and repair techniques to ensure top-tier service delivery
Skills
- Proven experience in auto service management or dealership environment with a solid understanding of automotive diagnostics and repair procedures
- Strong mechanical knowledge across various systems including transmissions, oil changes, collision repair, air brakes, alignments, suspension systems, tire services, shocks & struts, brake repairs, diesel engines, and auto body repair
- Proficiency with estimating software and computer-aided vehicle damage estimating tools
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients about repairs and costs
- Demonstrated ability to upsell services ethically while maintaining customer trust
- Experience in auto estimating and service writing to accurately document repairs and generate estimates
- Knowledge of automotive repair standards including collision repair processes and mechanical troubleshooting techniques
- Ability to lead a team effectively while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; driving is an essential part of the role
