Summary
Brew & Bloom, a program of Achieve, Inc., is seeking a hands-on General Manager to lead the business and café operations side of our year-round social enterprise coffee shop in Salida. Brew & Bloom provides paid, hands-on job-skills training for neurodivergent participants (“Achievers”) while operating as a welcoming community café.
The General Manager is responsible for keeping the café running smoothly, consistently, and professionally, including staffing, service flow, product quality, inventory, vendor relationships, POS/cash oversight, customer experience, café appearance, and health and safety compliance. This role works closely with Achieve’s Program Director, who leads the trainee/program side of Brew & Bloom.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily café operations, including service flow, rush management, station organization, opening/closing standards, and customer experience.
- Hire, train, supervise, and support café operations staff, including Shift Leads, Café Operations Associates, and baristas.
- Build and maintain staffing plans for early mornings, weekends, holidays, rushes, absences, and unexpected gaps.
- Manage inventory, ordering, vendor relationships, product sourcing, shopping/pickups, deliveries, and supply organization.
- Oversee POS settings and reporting, cash-handling procedures, daily closeout, deposits/reconciliation, and related documentation.
- Maintain quality standards for beverages, food items, presentation, speed of service, cleanliness, and café appearance.
- Ensure health, food safety, sanitation, equipment, and safety practices are followed and documented.
- Partner with the Program Director so café operations and trainee support systems work together effectively.

Requirements
- Required: 2+ years of experience in café, restaurant, retail food, or hospitality operations, including supervisory responsibility.
- Coffee shop/café management experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with inventory, vendor ordering, cash handling, POS systems, staff scheduling, and customer service required.
- Strong leadership, organization, follow-through, and ability to maintain consistency across shifts.
- Ability to stay calm and effective during rushes, staffing gaps, and customer concerns.
- Comfort using POS systems, scheduling/timekeeping platforms, email, spreadsheets, and common workplace applications.
- Preference for candidates who live in or near the Salida area and can reliably be on-site for early morning, weekend, holiday, and occasional urgent operational needs.
- Must obtain food handler certification or equivalent within 30 days of hire; training/support provided if needed.
