Responsibilities
- Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system efficiently to process transactions accurately and quickly
- Greet customers warmly, providing excellent customer service through active listening and clear communication
- Handle cash, credit, and debit card payments with precision, ensuring proper cash handling procedures are followed
- Assist customers with product inquiries, including product demos and upselling additional items to enhance their shopping experience
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of checkout areas, including merchandising and stocking shelves as needed
- Support inventory management by restocking shelves and monitoring stock levels throughout the store
- Demonstrate strong phone etiquette when answering customer calls or inquiries, providing helpful information promptly
- Engage in basic retail math to ensure accurate register balances at shift end
- Promote store promotions and sales initiatives to maximize sales opportunities
- Ensure compliance with all safety and security policies during daily operations
Skills
- Proficiency with POS systems and cash handling procedures
- Prior supervising experience in retail or customer service environments is a plus
- Ability to perform retail math accurately for transactions and inventory counts
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with bilingual abilities considered an asset
- Experience conducting product demos and upselling techniques to boost sales
- Knowledge of merchandising, stocking, and inventory management in a grocery or retail store setting
- Excellent phone etiquette with the ability to handle customer inquiries professionally
- Demonstrated ability to provide outstanding customer service in fast-paced environments
- Familiarity with grocery store operations is preferred but not required
