Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday, 3:30 p.m. to Midnight. Hours subject to change.

Reporting to the Maintenance Director, the Fleet Mechanic Shop Supervisor manages and coordinates fleet vehicle maintenance, including but not limited to, troubleshooting, diagnosis, repairs, preventative maintenance, inspections, safe work practices, time management processes, along with bus placing, parking, and fueling. The Mechanic Shop Supervisor is responsible for carrying and answering the Maintenance channel radio and dispatching mechanics for road calls as needed. This position also oversees the mechanics, utility, and the parts room staff. Oversite of inventory levels and requisitioning of parts necessary to complete both revenue and non-revenue vehicle repairs. This is a safety sensitive position subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) random drug and alcohol testing.
Mechanic Supervisor Qualifications:
- 3+ years of diesel or heavy-duty mechanic experience.
- 1-2 years of lead mechanic or supervisory experience in a shop environment in roles such as Shop Foreman, Heavy Duty Mechanic Supervisor, Fleet Supervisor, Service Advisor or Technician Supervisor.
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Must have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Possess or have the ability to complete company provided Class B CDL training in 90 days. Must maintain Class B CDL at all times of employment.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and excellent driving record to meet insurance standards.
- Able to pass Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and back screen; drug screen and complete an extensive background check.
- Must possess stable and verifiable work history, with exceptional record of attendance and punctuality.
- Proficient computer skills
- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex equipment problems.
- Ability to use good judgment and decision-making skills.
- Positive attitude and demonstrated excellence in customer service.
Mechanic Supervisor Essential Duties:
- Prioritizes, coordinates, and assigns work to fleet maintenance personnel.
- Supervises personnel assigned to perform fleet maintenance work involving inspection, troubleshooting, diagnosis, disassembly, rebuild/repair, assembly, and preventive maintenance.
- Provides technical assistance and training in inspection, diagnosis, repair, maintenance, and rebuilding of all vehicle systems including electrical and mechanical systems.
- Ensures shop time performance oversight according to industry standards and efficient utilization of labor and parts/materials/supplies.
- Oversees analyzes and resolves complex maintenance and repair problems.
- Inspects all completed mechanical and electrical work performed by maintenance personnel.
- Enforces departmental policies, rules, and procedures as well as the collective bargaining agreement.
- Performs and oversees fleet vehicle maintenance record keeping.
- Ensures fleet maintenance personnel adhere to safety policies and procedures.
- Ensures fleet maintenance personnel maintain clean work areas.
- Other related duties as assigned.
