Under the direction of the Early Childhood Development and Health Education Manager, the Early Childhood Education Specialist provides the education component of the Early Childhood Department program.

8 hours per day/182 days per year/Lane 11 $25.52 per hour (2026-2027 Support Salary Table)
(Promotions result in a 5% minimum increase]
This is a Head Start position.
GENERAL FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Education Manager, the Mentor Coach provides the education component of the Head Start program.
Educational Requirements:
1. Bachelors degree in Early Childhood or related field required.
Knowledge & Ability:
1. Ability to train and/or work with adults and children; strong interpersonal skills.
2. Strong leadership ability; ability to communicate effectively.
3. An understanding of the philosophy of the Head Start Program and ability to work effectively with the economically disadvantaged.
4. Knowledge of developmental expectations of 0 to 5-year-old children with an emphasis on 3 - 4 year old development.
5. Basic office skills (e.g., filing, word processing).
Job-Related Experience:
1. Two years experience related to the above tasks, knowledge, skills and abilities.
Licenses/Certification:
1. Food handler's permit.
2. Driver's license.
3. First aid and CPR certification.
