JOB TITLE: Operator Cora Terminal
REPORTS TO: Shift Supervisor
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary purpose:
· To operate and maintain dry bulk handling facility where products are received by trains and loaded into barges or trucks.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
· Operate heavy equipment to empty trains, trucks, and load barges.
· Operate mobile equipment, dozers, front end loaders, skid steer, and backhoe.
· Perform deck hand work. Manual labor-deckhand work, cleaning, and general maintenance.
· Performs housekeeping chores on operation activities, grounds, and buildings.
· Assists in both environmental services and maintenance as required.
· Participates in company training programs and related testing. Actively participate in safety programs and initiatives
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
MUST HAVE 2 YEARS DECKHAND EXPERIENCE
Minimum requirements:
Education:
· High School Diploma or GED
Experience / Specific Knowledge:
· Previous mobile equipment experience (dozers, front end loaders, skid steer, and backhoe).
· Experience/familiarity with hand tools (wrenches, ratchets, hammers, screwdrivers, pliers), hydraulic rams that weigh between 30 and 50 lbs., ratchets and wires that weigh 40-50 lbs., shovels, picks, and 1-1/2” water hoses.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
· Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
· Must be able to pass a Drug, Alcohol, and a Medical Exam (Physical).
Competencies, Skills, and Abilities:
· Must have a safe work mentality, mechanical aptitude, and problem-solving abilities.
· Ability to follow company policies and procedures.
· Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
· Ability to work with a team, follow rules, instructions, and take direction from supervisors.
· Execute work orders and associated paperwork.
Physical demands:
· Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs.
· Walk up and down stairs/ladders, negotiate uneven surfaces.
· Use of hand tools.
Working Conditions:
· Must be able to work any rotating shift in a 24/7 operation.
· Certain conditions of employment will be governed by the agreement between SCH Services and IUOE 318.
· Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
Supervisory responsibility:
· None
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
· Boat Pilot License
· OSHA 24-hour safety hazard training.
· Experienced welder, mechanic, hydraulic repairman, boat pilot, equipment operator and electrician.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
· All other duties as assigned.
