Montessori Kids Universe Waltham is seeking dependable, caring, and enthusiastic Floaters / Classroom Assistants to support our Infant through school-age classrooms (ages 6 weeks to 6 years).
This is a flexible part-time opportunity that works well for college students. We are happy to work around class schedules and welcome applicants who are available for mornings, afternoons, between classes, or select days during the week.
Students studying Early Childhood Education, Education, Child Development, Psychology, or related fields are especially encouraged to apply, but students from all majors are welcome!
Responsibilities
As a Floater, you will support our Lead Guides and teachers across classrooms as needed. Responsibilities may include:
- Assisting teachers with daily classroom activities
- Engaging with children through play, reading, and age-appropriate activities
- Supporting meals, outdoor play, rest time, and classroom transitions
- Providing classroom coverage as needed
- Helping maintain clean, organized, safe, and welcoming classrooms
- Encouraging children's independence, creativity, and social-emotional development

- Willing to learn and support different classrooms
- Interested in Montessori and Reggio Emilia educational philosophies
- Able to communicate professionally with teachers, children, and families
Previous childcare or classroom experience is helpful but not required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must meet applicable Massachusetts EEC requirements for the position
- Willingness to complete required training and background checks
- Reliable during your committed work hours
EEC qualifications, Early Childhood Education coursework, or previous childcare experience are a plus, but not required to apply.
Flexible Schedule
Part-time with flexible hours based on your availability and our school's needs. We understand that college schedules vary and may change each semester.
