POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Nurse Practitioner
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
MISSION: Healthfirst Network, Inc. is dedicated to providing quality, confidential reproductive health care, education and nutrition counseling that is affordable and accessible through direct care and strategic partnerships.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for the planning and administration of quality health care in the reproductive and health setting. The NursePractitioner works to ensure that high quality care is delivered in a customer service driven environment. The Nurse Practitioner provides professional healthcare to reproductive healthcare clients as directed by the Medical Director and in accordance with policy and protocol outlined in the Healthfirst Network, Inc. Policy and Procedure Manual and the Wisconsin Division of
Public Health - Family Planning, Reproductive/Sexual Health, and Early Intervention Guidelines
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs comprehensive histories and physical exam, with emphasis on the reproductive system, including breast examination, pelvic examination, cancer screening tests, diagnosis of sexually transmitted infections, and other types of more specialized procedures as may be indicated by medical policy
- Orders, performs and interprets routine laboratory tests as appropriate
- Provides education and appropriate management for women and men in need of reproductive related services, including health education, disease prevention and anticipatory guidance
- Monitors medical aspects of all medical related services offered at the clinic, acting as a resource to clinic staff and clients regarding medical concerns
- Responsible for assessing, planning and administering health care which is individualized to the client and consistent with Healthfirst Network, Inc. polices and protocols
- Initiates appropriate medical follow up on all client testing and/or treatment
- Seeks consultations as necessary from Medical Director
- Participates in the development and maintenance of quality care standard, and implements overall quality assurance activities at the clinic
- Documents within Electronic Medical Record and completes other necessary documents/documentation
- Assures that all eligible clients have been assisted with enrollment in FPOS
- Assists with staff training, and orientation as requested
- Participates in education programs regarding family planning methods and services
- Attends orientation, training and staff development functions
- Assists with special project activities when necessary
- Maintains security and confidentiality of clients and their records
- Assists with other responsibilities as assigned
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

- Ability to relate to diverse communities and be sensitive to cultural and ethnic differences among staff and clients
- Maintain professional growth and development through continuing education, including participation in conferences, workshops, and professional affiliations

- Must be articulate-good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently
- Must exhibit good organizational skills
- Knowledge of computer and electronic medical records
- Willingness to travel as needed
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing required, Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred. If no Master’s Degree, Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner Certification required
- 3-5 years of previous work experience as a Nurse Practitioner with experience in family planning, public health, or women’s health is preferred
- Current CPR certification required
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- General office conditions consistent with working in a health care environment
- High degree of accountability for agency services and for well-being of clients
- Possible exposure to communicable diseases and toxic substances in the clinic sites
- Will work with blood or blood-borne pathogens and will require OSHA training which will include safety precautions and the use of personal protection equipment
- Must have own reliable transportation. This position requires travel, therefore a valid driver’s license and auto insurance in accordance with agency liability standards is required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Work requires accuracy and moderate speed
- Sitting for long periods of time, occasional lifting, carrying, moving, and transporting items to other sites or within sites. Driving or riding in vehicle for up to two hours or more. Variety of physical exertion with some and /or continuous standing or walking
- Manual dexterity needed for clinical procedures, computer use, etc.
- Ability to comprehend data collection, digital communications and paper documents
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $43.00 - $69.00 per hour
