Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Prepare examination rooms and ensure all necessary supplies and equipment are ready for patient visits.
- Take and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature.
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments across office setting.
- Perform phlebotomy procedures to collect blood samples for laboratory testing while adhering to safety protocols.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), ensuring precise documentation of patient encounters, medical history, and treatment plans.
- Support medication administration under supervision, including handling prescriptions and understanding pharmacology basics.
- Conduct patient intake assessments by collecting medical histories and updating records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Facilitate communication between patients and providers by explaining procedures, answering questions, and providing compassionate care.
- Assist with ICD coding and medical documentation to ensure accurate billing and record-keeping for insurance purposes.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within the clinical environment while adhering to infection control standards.
- Assist front desk and infusion nurse when needed.
- Other duties as assisgned.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in outpatient clinics or hospital settings with exposure to rheumatology, urgent care, or primary care.
- Demonstrated proficiency in EMR/EHR systems management and medical documentation practices.
- Experience performing phlebotomy, medication administration, vital signs collection, and basic life support (BLS).
- Familiarity with medical terminology, physiology, anatomy knowledge, ICD coding, and pharmacology principles.
- Prior work in hospital medicine or geriatrics enhances the ability to provide specialized patient support.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently within fast-paced healthcare settings.
- Excellent communication skills focused on delivering compassionate patient service while supporting clinical workflows.
