Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse - Unit Manager to lead and coordinate nursing care within a dynamic healthcare facility. Duties
- Provide clinical oversight and leadership for nursing staff, ensuring adherence to nursing policies and best practices.
- Coordinate patient care activities across various units, including medical-surgical, geriatrics, behavioral health, and critical care settings.
- Supervise staff scheduling, performance evaluations, and ongoing training to maintain a motivated and competent team.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, state healthcare regulations, and accreditation standards such as NCQA standards.
- Oversee documentation accuracy within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth to maintain precise medical records.
- Facilitate discharge planning, case management, and utilization review processes to optimize patient care pathways.
- Monitor patient assessments, vital signs, medication administration, and medical documentation to uphold safety and quality standards.
- Promote infection control protocols and aseptic techniques to prevent healthcare-associated infections across the unit.
Requirements
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license with current state certification.
- Extensive clinical experience in acute care environments such as ICU or Level I Trauma Centers; critical care experience preferred.
- Proven leadership or nurse management experience supervising multidisciplinary teams in long-term care or hospital settings.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, or similar platforms; familiarity with ICD-9/ICD-10 coding is essential.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology relevant to diverse patient populations.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges; dementia or memory care experience is advantageous.
- Ability to manage complex cases involving ventilator management, IV infusion, catheterization, tube feeding, and other advanced procedures.
- Excellent communication skills for managerial coordination and patient-centered interactions while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
