Job Title: Assistant Cookie Decorator / Baker (Full-Time)

Recently purchased by two longtime employees, we are a passionate, hardworking team of bakers and decorators who take pride in our craft. We specialize in beautifully decorated shortbread cookies, classic baked goods, and seasonal favorites.
Position Overview
We are seeking a full-time Assistant Cookie Decorator / Baker to join our team. This role works closely with our Head Cookie Decorator and is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on baking, detailed decorating, and working in a fast-paced bakery environment. Experience is preferred but not required—an artistic background or passion for art is strongly encouraged.
Key Responsibilities
- Bake and decorate shortbread cookies using royal icing, following our recipes and techniques
- Prepare shortbread cookie dough and cut cookies using various cutters
- Use a dough sheeter to roll out cookie dough
- Mix royal icing from scratch using a 60-quart stand mixer
- Decorate cookies by hand and using an edible image printer
- Package cookies for the storefront, custom orders, and wholesale orders (including ribbons, twist ties, and ingredient labels)
- Assemble and prepare orders for wholesale and individual customers
- Assist with other bakery tasks as needed, especially during busy seasons (e.g., topping pies, dipping brownies in chocolate, packaging baked goods)
- Take inventory of ingredients (such as sprinkles) and packaging supplies
- Ensure all tools, equipment, workstations, and utensils are properly cleaned and sanitized
Requirements & Qualifications
- ServSafe Food Handler Certification and Allergen Awareness Certification
- Experience in cookie decorating or baking is preferred but not required
- If no bakery experience, a background or strong interest in art, design, or creative work is encouraged
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and decorating standards
- Ability to work as part of a team and take direction from the Head Cookie Decorator
- Flexibility to work more or fewer hours depending on the season (November–December is very busy; January is slower)
