Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and dignity.
- Take and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates accurately using appropriate medical equipment.
- Facilitate patient transfers using safe lifting practices and equipment such as Hoyer lifts or manual handling techniques, ensuring safety for both patients and staff.
- Observe and report changes in patient condition promptly, including symptoms related to infectious diseases or acute care needs.
- Provide emotional support and effective communication tailored to patients’ cognitive levels, including those with dementia or developmental disabilities.
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) from an accredited program.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and adhere to safe lifting practices during patient transfers or manual handling tasks.
- Excellent caregiver communication skills with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams in fast-paced environments like ICU, emergency medicine, or hospital settings.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications such as CPR or medication administration are advantageous.
