Key Qualifications:
- Must hold and maintain an active Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) license
- Experience working with children and adolescents in educational settings
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
- Compassionate, patient, and adaptable when working with students with varying needs
- Capable of developing individualized plans to promote independence and safe navigation
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct orientation and mobility assessments for students with visual impairments
- Develop and implement customized instructional plans geared toward student independence
- Collaborate closely with teachers, families, and support staff to optimize student success
- Provide hands-on instruction in both familiar and novel environments within the school community
- Monitor progress, document outcomes, and adjust strategies to address student growth and changing needs
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere where each student is empowered to thrive
This role is entirely onsite, allowing you to engage directly with students and staff throughout the academic day. The assignment runs from September 1, 2026, through June 14, 2027, with a predictable Monday-Friday schedule—ideal for those who value a structured workweek and ongoing student interaction.
