Smart Start Play School is looking for a caring, dependable Assistant Teacher to join our small, play-based preschool program! We are a licensed family childcare home serving children ages 2½–5 years old. We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with young children, is willing to jump in wherever needed, and wants to be part of a positive, supportive learning environment.
Pay: $15.00 per hour
Schedule
This is a part-time position with a flexible schedule.
- Monday–Friday
- Afternoon availability between 11:00 AM–4:30 PM
- You do not need to be available for the entire shift or every day.
- Looking for someone available at least 2–3 afternoons per week.
- Start date: ASAP
Responsibilities
- Supervise, engage, and play with children ages 2½–5 years
- Monitor children during nap time
- Prepare and serve afternoon snack
- Assist with light cleaning and classroom tasks
- Communicate with parents
- Help create a safe, fun, and nurturing environment
- Work as part of a team to support children's daily routines and activities
Qualifications
We're looking for someone who is:
- 18 years of age or older
- Dependable, punctual, and responsible
- Kind, patient, and enthusiastic about working with young children
- Comfortable sitting, standing, and getting up and down from the floor throughout the day
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Able to pass all required Kansas childcare background checks
- Previous childcare experience preferred but not required
