Duties
- Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes, standards, and presentation guidelines
- Assist in menu planning by providing input on ingredient selection and dish preparation techniques
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workspace, adhering strictly to food safety standards
- Handle food with care, ensuring proper storage, handling, and sanitation practices are followed at all times
- Use knife skills effectively for slicing, dicing, chopping, and other food preparation tasks using proper techniques
- Support catering events and special functions by preparing large quantities of food efficiently
- Monitor cooking processes to ensure food quality, safety, and consistency throughout each shift
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or restaurant kitchen environments
- Strong knowledge of food safety management and handling procedures
- Excellent knife skills with precise slicing techniques
- Familiarity with dietary department procedures and dietary aide experience is a plus
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Knowledge of menu planning, meal preparation, and food industry standards
- Experience with catering services and serving large groups is advantageous
