We are a second generation, family run printing company on 35th Ave in Phoenix. Small office, small crew, and we have been doing this a long time. We are looking for a part-time bookkeeper to take over our books.
To be clear about who we want. This is a job for a seasoned bookkeeper who is past the full-time grind and wants good part-time hours. Eight or more years in QuickBooks. We are not looking for less than that.
We have a part-time person who has been running our accounting department for the last eight years. You would be coordinating with them. They work afternoons and you would work mornings.
This is a mornings only job. You would work 8:00 to 1:00, Monday through Friday. A few days run a little past 1:00 when payroll or month end lands. We do need you here at 8:00. That part is not flexible. There is no work from home on this one.
WHAT YOU WOULD DO
- Reconcile QuickBooks monthly, and help finish the reconciling for last year
- Run biweekly payroll for our crew. We use ADP and Synapse.
- Work with our CPA on sales tax and the year end filings
- Invoice jobs and stay on top of A/R aging
- Process daily credit cards and deposit checks
- Handle A/P, vendor files and vendor communication
- Help with month end and year end close
- Answer the phone and cover the front desk when things get busy
You also have to play nice with our CPA.
WHAT YOU HAVE TO HAVE
- 8 or more years of full charge bookkeeping in QuickBooks. Reconciling, not just data entry.
- Real payroll experience. ADP is a plus.
- You are comfortable on a Mac. Our office runs on Macs.
- Excel and Word
- You catch your own mistakes before anyone else does
You will get shown how we do things here. What we cannot do is teach QuickBooks or payroll from the ground up. Those two need to already be second nature.
WHO DOES WELL HERE
Someone steady who likes owning their piece of the business. You will be working on your own most of the morning, so you have to be able to run without anyone checking on you. Good attitude matters to us. So does honesty. We are a small shop and everybody talks to everybody.
PAY AND HOURS
- $21 to $25 an hour depending on experience
- About 25 hours a week, 8:00 to 1:00, Monday through Friday
- All major holidays paid
- Paid sick time that builds up as you work, per Arizona law
- On site at our shop in Phoenix. This is not a remote or work from home job.
I want to be upfront about the benefits. We are a small shop and what is listed above is the whole package. No health insurance and no retirement plan. If that is a dealbreaker I understand, and I would rather you know now than find out in an interview.
