Position Summary:
Works with and supervises personnel of specified production departments in a manner that provides a safe work environment in accordance with permit requirements and department’s protocols. Manage and assist engineering projects. Meets the divisional goals set forth by management. Reports production and project progress and performs personnel evaluations. General safety related tasks to include safety walks, ensure emergency response equipment and other relevant Environmental, Health & Safety records for the SPM area are maintained.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Engineering. Mechanical aptitude commensurate with operation and maintenance of associated equipment. Knowledge of basic hydrometallurgical chemistry and safety involving inorganic chemicals.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Problem Solving: Analytical proficiency that supports suitable evaluation and implementation of creative solutions to problems or potential problems.
Ability to Train, Discipline: Knowledge to effectively train and appropriately discipline employees.
Supervisory Skills: Ability to supervise personnel to perform chemical procedures associated with conventional wastewater processing in a non-ferrous metal’s industrial environment.
Judgment in an Industrial Environment: Ability to make sound judgment calls and decisions regarding personnel and their work activities. Ability to understand the flow of material in a complex process environment.
Attention to Detail: Ability to manage physical inventory of precious and non-precious inventories to the fraction of a troy ounce.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
2-4 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment; preferably 2-4 years of experience performing aqueous metal recovery procedures.
Operate PLCs, pumps, mixers, filter presses and material handling equipment such as forklifts, lifting devices, & hoists.
Be able to perform mass and energy balances, read/create PFD and P&IDs, and create costing estimates for capital expenditures and production operations.
Ability to supervise personnel and work with peers to coordinate interdepartmental needs.
Computer Skills: Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Word and Excel or analogous word processing and spreadsheet software.

Financial Responsibility: Endeavors to achieve the production and environmental objectives of the department as expressed in budget targets. Obtains the target production rate at the target unit cost. Assists with annual maintenance budget projections.
Administrative Responsibility: Efficiently utilize departmental personnel to their maximum potential. Management of employees in accordance with permit requirements, Metalor training procedures, and, MUSAR handbook. Encourage employees to pursue opportunities for training (both company organized training programs and outside resources).
Continuous Improvement: Maintain and improve the equipment of the department. Identify areas where equipment is obsolete or unsuitable. Ensure that equipment that is critical to the production of products is maintained according to facility policies.
Contribution: Contribute to the company as a whole. Looking beyond the departmental boundaries to reduce costs and improve efficiencies.
ISO Compliance: Understand and follow the requirements of iSO9001 as detailed in the policies and procedures of the Metalor Quality Management system. Ensure that operating procedures are up-to-date and available to employees that appropriate corrective and preventative actions are taken
