The Excavation Foreman is a leadership role responsible for overseeing excavation projects and managing a skilled team of operators and laborers. This position requires strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to safety and quality. The Foreman ensures that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the specifications outlined in project plans.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Oversee daily excavation operations, ensuring work is performed efficiently and according to project plans and timelines.
· Oversee daily excavation operations, ensuring material and product is on time and delivered the to the most efficient location.
· Work with equipment manager and dispatch to issue equipment in delivered on-time.
· Lead and mentor a team of excavation Journeyman, operators and laborers, providing direction, training, and support to enhance skills and performance.
· Enforce safety protocols and regulations on-site, conducting regular safety meetings and inspections to minimize risks and ensure compliance.
· Coordinate the use and maintenance of excavation equipment, ensuring all machinery is in safe working order and properly operated.
· Act as the primary point of contact between project managers, clients, and crew members, facilitating clear communication and addressing any concerns or issues.
· Monitor work quality and adherence to specifications, making adjustments as necessary to meet project standards.
· Maintain accurate records of daily activities, project progress, and any incidents or changes to project scope.

· Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in excavation or heavy construction, with at least 2 years in a Journeyman or leader ship role.
· Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA, heavy equipment operation) preferred.
· Strong leadership abilities with experience in team management and conflict resolution.
· In-depth understanding of excavation techniques, equipment operation, and safety practices.
· Ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions quickly and efficiently.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills to liaise with team members and stakeholders.
· Ability to follow instructions precisely and maintain high standards of work quality.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address challenges that arise on-site.
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent qualification
· Two years in a journeyman type position.
Physical Requirements:
· Capable of performing physically demanding tasks and working in various weather conditions.
· Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed
· Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
