We are seeking an experienced Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse (RN) who is passionate about patient safety, recovery, and delivering an outstanding patient experience.
Position Summary
The PACU Recovery RN is responsible for providing high-quality post-anesthesia care to cosmetic surgery patients from admission into the recovery area through discharge. The ideal candidate is experienced, organized, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Qualifications
Active Florida Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
Minimum of 1 year of PACU or recovery room experience required.
Previous experience in cosmetic surgery, plastic surgery, ambulatory surgery center (ASC), or operating room preferred.
Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.
Fluent in English and Spanish (required).
Strong IV, assessment, and patient monitoring skills.
Excellent bedside manner with the ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) systems.
Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
Responsibilities
Monitor and assess patients during the immediate post-anesthesia recovery period.
Perform comprehensive patient assessments and ongoing monitoring of:
Vital signs
Airway and respiratory status
Cardiovascular status
Neurological status
Pain management
Nausea and vomiting
Surgical site and dressings
Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition.
Administer medications as ordered and monitor patient response.
Accurately document all patient assessments, medications, treatments, interventions, and recovery progress.
Complete all PACU documentation in accordance with regulatory and facility standards.
Prepare patients for safe discharge using established discharge criteria.
Provide thorough post-operative education and discharge instructions to patients and their caregivers.
Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, medical assistants, and the clinical team to ensure seamless patient care.
Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
Ensure all recovery equipment, emergency supplies, and medications are properly maintained and readily available.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe recovery environment.
Assist with quality assurance initiatives and infection control protocols.
Participate in emergency response situations as needed.
