This position has a Special Entrance Rate of $19.88 per hour.
There is Premium Pay for this position:
A rate between $2.00 and $5.00 an hour for each regular hour worked, based on years of service with DOC, in addition to regular pay.
Provides individual and group therapy in compliance with the established treatment plans, as well as facilitating specialized groups as assigned to assist offenders in making realistic and adequate discharge plans by identifying and exploring available resources, as well as necessary skills and psychological factors related to re-entry into society.
Interviews offenders in order to develop a thorough bio-psycho-social assessment; in which problems or needs are identified, adjustment difficulties are addressed, and strengths and deficits will be identified and addressed.
Maintains appropriate documentation in inmate’s medical records, charting and reviewing treatment provided, progress of each case, and recommendations made, utilizing consultation as needed and making appropriate referrals to other departments as appropriate. Maintains statistics on number of offenders seen and coding of those offenders.
Assesses offenders to determine the potential for self-mutilation or injury, and/or suicide; orders appropriate management instructions utilizing Suicide Watches or Mental Health observations when appropriate and monitors progress of those offenders while providing individual counseling.
The opportunity to provide needed services to a specific demographic in a unique setting while working with a diverse group of skilled professional Mental Health, Medical, Security and Non-Security staff.

Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice as a Licensed Master's Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Certified Social Worker (CSW) plus:
A master's degree in social work.
NOTE:
Permanent status will not be granted in this job title without LMSW or LCSW licensure in Louisiana; Certified Social Worker (CSW) credential will not be accepted for granting permanent status.

Performs individual interventions with clients experiencing crisis.
The incumbent of this position would work with other professional Social Workers, Social Service Counselors and security/non-security staff.

SALARY DEPENDS ON LEVEL OF EXPERIENCE

As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a Social Worker 1, 2, or 3 depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s).

The maximum salary for the Social Worker 3 is $78,790.00 annually.
