Sensa Health ENT is a fast-growing, physician-led specialty practice with locations in Koreatown (Los Angeles) and Orange County. We provide comprehensive adult and pediatric ENT care, including rhinology, head & neck surgery, thyroid procedures, audiology, and in-office procedures. We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Medical Biller who enjoys solving complex insurance issues and takes pride in maximizing accurate reimbursement.
Position Summary
The Medical Biller is responsible for the full revenue cycle, including claim submission, payment posting, denial management, appeals, insurance follow-up, and identifying reimbursement trends. This role requires strong knowledge of commercial insurance, Medicare, Medi-Cal, HMO/IPA plans, and surgical billing.
The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, analytical, and comfortable managing a high-volume workload while collaborating closely with providers, front office staff, surgery coordinators, and management.
Responsibilities
- Submit clean electronic claims in a timely manner.
- Review claims for coding, modifier, and documentation accuracy prior to submission.
- Monitor claim status and aggressively follow up on unpaid or underpaid claims.
- Investigate denials and prepare appeals with supporting documentation.
- Work directly with commercial insurance carriers, Medicare, Medi-Cal, and HMO/IPA plans.
- Identify payment discrepancies and escalate payer contract issues when appropriate.
- Resolve claim edits, rejections, and eligibility-related billing issues.
- Post insurance payments, adjustments, refunds, and patient payments accurately.
- Reconcile aging accounts receivable and prioritize accounts requiring immediate attention.
- Collaborate with providers regarding documentation needed to support billing.
- Maintain accurate billing notes and follow-up activities within the practice management system.
- Assist with prior authorization and referral-related billing issues when necessary.
- Monitor payer trends and recommend process improvements to increase collections and reduce denials.
- Meet established productivity and collection goals while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of medical insurance billing experience.
- Strong understanding of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, modifiers, and medical terminology.
- Experience working commercial insurance, Medicare, Medi-Cal, and HMO/IPA plans.
- Experience appealing denials and resolving reimbursement issues.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
Preferred
- ENT or surgical specialty billing experience.
- Experience billing office procedures and outpatient surgeries.
- Experience with prior authorizations and referral requirements.
- Familiarity with Elation Health, CollaborateMD, or similar EHR/practice management systems.
- Korean language skills are a plus but not required.
