Highway Design Engineer (Job no. L-2021-18)
Responsibilities:
As a member of an interdisciplinary team,
- Prepare plans, specifications, estimates, schedules, design exception reports and other studies for roadway improvement projects
- Perform design of highways and roadways including horizontal and vertical alignments , roadside safety features, grading , ROW limits and earthwork ROW limits
- Prepare design sketches and drawings using CADD
- Cooperate and coordinate with other design team members
- Supervise and check work of less experienced engineers
- Visit project sites to investigate conditions
- Review contractor submittals such as working drawings and RFIs
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering
- 5-10 years of progressive experience in civil or highway engineering:
- Proficiency with AutoCAD or MicroStation
- Familiarity with MUTCD
- NY or NJ PE preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
