WHY THIS ROLE IS DIFFERENT
If you’re a CNA or trained PCA who takes pride in doing things the right way, Glen Haven Huntersville is built for you.
- Only six residents in a beautiful, high‑end home.
- Better than 3:1 caregiver ratio.
- Very high standard of personalized care
- Every resident known by name, routine, and preference.
You’re not just “filling a shift” here. You’re one of a small, trusted team responsible for giving six seniors the best possible day, every day.
If you’re tired of being rushed, ignored, or treated like a number, this is the opposite of that.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
As a Caregiver at Glen Haven, you will:
- Provide hands-on personal care. Support residents with bathing, showering, grooming, toileting, incontinence care, dressing, and safe transfers/ambulation according to the care plan.
- Support a calm, predictable daily routine. Offer companionship, redirection, cueing for memory support, and encourage participation in simple activities (conversation, music, reading, short walks, meals together).
- Monitor and document resident status. Follow written care plans, complete basic shift documentation, and immediately report changes in condition, behavior, appetite, mobility, or skin integrity.
- Administer medications safely and accurately. Give medications as ordered, follow the MAR exactly, follow all “five rights” of medication administration, and promptly report and document any medication issues per policy.
- Communicate clearly with the care team and families. Give and receive thorough shift reports, escalate concerns quickly, and maintain a calm, professional tone with residents and families at all times.
NON‑NEGOTIABLE QUALIFICATIONS
We are only considering applicants who are already fully trained and cleared to administer medications in a North Carolina adult/family care home.
You must meet all of the following to be hired:
1. Already a current CNA in North Carolina or have completed North Carolina 80‑Hour PCA Training
- If you are not already listed on the NC CNA Registry, you must provide documentation of successful completion of an approved 80‑hour PCA (or equivalent personal care training) program under North Carolina rules.
- No certificate = no job offer.
2. Able to Administer Medications on Day One
- Completed the required North Carolina medication training (10‑hour/5‑hour classes or equivalent) for adult/family care settings.
- Passed the North Carolina Medication Aide exam and are currently eligible to pass medications in an assisted living/family care home.
- Comfortable and experienced using a MAR, following written orders, and documenting medications correctly.
3. Recent, relevant hands‑on experience
- At least 3 years of paid experience providing direct personal care to older adults in a facility or in‑home setting.
- Experience with memory care/dementia is strongly preferred.
If you are not a CNA or do not have the 80‑hour PCA credential and current med‑aide qualification, this role will not be a fit at this time.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- At least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Able to pass required background checks and health/TB screening.
- Current CPR/BLS training certificate
- Able to lift, push, and pull at least 50 lbs with reasonable accommodation and to stand/walk for most of the shift.
- Able to read and follow written care plans and document care in English (paper and basic electronic formats).
- Reliable transportation and a strong history of on‑time attendance.
WHO THRIVES HERE
You will do well at Glen Haven if you:
- Take your training and med‑admin responsibilities seriously and follow procedures every time.
- Are calm, patient, and steady with residents who may be confused, anxious, or repetitive.
- Like working in a small, tight‑knit team where everyone is visible and accountable.
- Show up early, ready to report, and understand that reliability is part of good care.
- Want stability, not just a short‑term job.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Small, stable resident group in a high‑quality residential home.
- Better than 3:1 caregiver ratios so you can actually do the job you were trained to do.
- Clear procedures, strong medication policies, and training refreshers as needed.
- Competitive hourly pay within the posted range, with premium opportunities for high‑reliability team members.
