Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments and ensuring all equipment is ready for procedures in accordance with infection prevention management and aseptic techniques.
- Assist dentists during various procedures including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing chairside support with dental instruments and materials.
- Take and develop dental x-rays, including 3D scans when applicable, ensuring accurate medical imaging for diagnosis while adhering to radiation safety protocols.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, maintaining clinical confidentiality policies at all times.
- Collect vital signs and medical history information from patients to support comprehensive care planning while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care, and preventive measures to promote long-term dental wellness.
- Support administrative functions such as scheduling appointments, greeting patients as a dental receptionist, and managing patient management software for efficient workflow.
Requirements
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry procedures and dental terminology.
- Proficiency in using dental software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for medical documentation and records management.
- Certification or training in dental assisting, including chairside assisting, dental instrument processing, sterilization procedures, and infection control standards.
- Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other clinical tools with precision.
- Strong understanding of anatomy relevant to oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention protocols, aseptic technique, and clinical confidentiality policies aligned with HIPAA regulations.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members including dental receptionists and other healthcare professionals.
