The Deron School of N.J., Inc., an approved private school for students with disabilities, is seeking upbeat, energetic para-professionals to join our team. With campuses in Union (ages 3-12) and Montclair (ages 12-21). The Deron School offers a positive work environment with opportunities for growth and advancements. We are currently looking for candidates in our Montclair Campus (ages 12 - 21).
Position Purpose
Under the direct supervision of a certified staff member, to assist certified professional staff with students in the classroom to meet instructional goals and objectives.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
-Supporting assigned student by collecting and graphing data
-Running ABA programs
-Job coaching
-Implementing strategies to foster academic growth
-Facilitating functional communication skills
-Assisting in social skills development
-Collaborating with team, including lead teacher, related service providers, BCBA's, social workers, and nurses
-Additional training will be provided specifically for working with assigned students
-ABA or RBT experience a plus
- NJDOE Substitute Teacher Certification is a plus
Essential Job Functions
- Assists and guides students to reinforce academics, social emotional learning, personal hygiene skills, communication skills, etc.
- Works with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implement assigned programs.
- Assists professional staff in the administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests and assessments.
- Assists in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills according to individual student needs.
- Assists with record-keeping procedures to document student learning and performance.
- Assists with classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions, ensure a safe and orderly classroom, and ensure students are on task.
- Assists students in non-instructional areas, such as supervising the student lunch programs, bus duty, playground duty, transitions, therapies and other related non-instructional areas.
- Accompanies students on field trips for the purpose of assisting with supervision.

Associates Degree or 60 College Credits (Preferred)
