Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments in dermatology, internal medicine, emergency medicine, and other specialties.
- Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and patient intake information accurately using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures, ensuring comfort, and maintaining a professional bedside manner.
- Collect specimens for laboratory testing such as phlebotomy and prepare samples for analysis.
- Administer medications or injections under physician supervision following proper protocols and medication administration guidelines.
- Manage medical office operations including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and maintaining organized medical records in EMR/EHR systems.
- Support hospital-based functions with inpatient experience, ICU (Intensive Care Unit) procedures, or trauma center protocols as needed.
- Perform basic radiology tasks such as X-ray imaging in compliance with safety standards.
- Assist with ICD coding for billing purposes and ensure accurate documentation of patient encounters.
- Maintain compliance with healthcare regulations, including Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and adherence to infection control standards.
Skills
- Proven experience in dermatology, urgent care, hospital medicine, or outpatient clinics with a focus on patient service excellence.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and medical terminology to support accurate patient assessments.
- Skilled in using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and EMR/EHR management for documentation and data entry.
- Ability to perform phlebotomy procedures efficiently while maintaining patient comfort.
- Familiarity with ICD coding practices for accurate diagnosis documentation and billing processes.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively intake patient information and coordinate with healthcare teams.
- Experience working within hospital environments such as Level I or Level II trauma centers or specialized units like PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) or Geriatrics is highly valued.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities in fast-paced settings like emergency departments or outpatient clinics.
- Knowledge of medical-surgical procedures and internal medicine protocols to support comprehensive patient care.
