The Receiving Inspection Quality Inspector ensures that all incoming materials, components, and products meet strict company quality standards, engineering specifications, and regulatory requirements before they enter production or inventory. This role is critical to preventing defects, maintaining supply chain integrity, and ensuring ultimate product safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform physical, visual, and dimensional inspections of incoming raw materials, components, and assemblies against blueprints, engineering drawings, purchase orders, and specifications.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, height gauges, thread gauges, and optical comparators) to verify part dimensions.
- Review incoming material documentation, including Certificates of Conformance (CoC), material test reports (MTRs), and packing lists for accuracy and traceability.
- Record inspection results in the ERP/QMS system. Approve compliant materials for inventory release or generate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for rejected materials.
- Physically segregate and tag non-conforming materials in designated quarantine areas to prevent accidental use.
- Coordinate with Procurement, Engineering, and Supplier Quality teams to resolve material discrepancies and clarify technical specifications.
Qualifications & Skills
Required
- 2+ years of experience in quality inspection, preferably in a manufacturing, aerospace, medical device, or automotive environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Proven experience using precision handheld measurement tools.
- Proficient with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and Quality Management Software (QMS).
Preferred
- Associate degree or technical certifications (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Inspector - CQI).
- Experience with coordinate measuring machines (CMM) or vision inspection systems.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs regularly.
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and bending in a warehouse/manufacturing environment.
- Excellent visual acuity (with or without corrective lenses) for close-up inspection work.
Pay: $25.00 - $41.00 per hour
