Duties
- Set up and operate CNC machining equipment such as CNC lathes and milling machines, primarily using Fanuc controls.
- Program CNC machines using CAM programming software; modify programs as needed to improve efficiency and quality.
- Read and interpret detailed blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and technical drawings to ensure precise manufacturing.
- Use precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to verify dimensions.
- Maintain machine tools by performing routine inspections, troubleshooting issues, and replacing tooling or parts as necessary.
- Conduct electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes when required for complex or hard materials.
- Support assembly processes by ensuring machined parts meet quality standards; assist with welding, plastics injection molding, or other related tasks when needed.
- Follow safety protocols diligently while operating power tools, hand tools, forklifts, and other equipment to maintain a safe work environment.
Skills
- Proficiency in CNC programming and operation, especially with Fanuc controls.
- Strong understanding of blueprint reading and GD&T principles for accurate manufacturing.
- Mechanical aptitude with knowledge of machining processes including CNC milling and turning.
- Experience with CAM programming software for toolpath generation.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks and CAD software for part design review and modifications.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and CMMs confidently.
- Knowledge of electrical discharge machining (EDM) techniques for complex component fabrication.
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and troubleshooting during machining tasks.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflow and reduce waste.
- Ability to operate forklifts safely; familiarity with tooling setup and maintenance is a plus.
