GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The laser machine operator position safely performs laser cutting for a variety of organizational manufacturing needs. The person in this position must always support and promote the company Vision, Mission and Values, using UPSCALE as the foundation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential functions are those tasks, duties, and responsibilities that comprise the means of accomplishing the jobs purpose and objectives. Essential functions are critical or fundamental to the performance of the job. They are the major functions for which the person in the job is held accountable.
Perform typical laser cutting operations.
Select proper cutting programs, flex entry points, and program at control.
Establish proper stop location, adjust cutting parameters to obtain optimal cut quality.
Make proper set-ups for optimal cutting operations. Perform prescribed maintenance as required.
Perform all dimensional inspections.
Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
Maintain daily dust collector service and associated logbook in assigned area and report equipment
deficiencies.
Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of cutting equipment and work area in accordance with company standards and manufactures machine recommendations.
Perform some machine alignments procedures, optic cleaning to keep equipment at peak operating
Performance.
Operate tube laser.
Perform preventative maintenance as prescribed for tube laser.
May work at different workstations as production needs require.
EDUCATION & TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or GED.
Training in general safety, electrostatic discharge awareness, foreign object damage, awareness and quality system awareness preferred.
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 1 year of manufacturing experience.
Working experience on multiple brands of CNC machines.
Some drawing and reading comprehension skills.
Ability to inspect flat laser cut parts with precision inspection equipment.
Must have some understanding of drawing notations.
Possess knowledge of and ability to identify fabrication industry metals.
Ability to learn or have some working knowledge of NC machine code.
Capable of altering or writing programs on the NC control console.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Self-sufficient in all areas of responsibility.
Ability to work well as a team member and delegate work flow as needed.
Understanding and support of Dakotaland Manufacturing policies and procedures.
Safety conscious behavior.
Must be forklift certified.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Wear a fit-tested respirator if required.
Will work in a fast paced industrial environment wearing hearing protection, vision protection, steel-toed shoes and other appropriate protective cloth
