Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
About the Opportunity
A privately held, globally operating organization is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide both strategic financial leadership and hands-on operational oversight across its international business.
Reporting directly to executive leadership, the CFO will oversee all aspects of finance, accounting, treasury, tax, payroll, compliance, and financial reporting while serving as a trusted advisor on business strategy and operational decision-making. This role offers broad exposure across domestic and international operations and requires a finance executive who enjoys working in an entrepreneurial environment where collaboration, adaptability, and ownership are essential.
The successful candidate will inherit a well-established finance function, lead a lean U.S.-based accounting team, partner with international finance personnel, and play a key role in supporting the organization's continued growth and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic financial leadership while serving as a key advisor to executive leadership on financial, operational, and business initiatives.
- Direct all accounting, finance, treasury, payroll, tax, compliance, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting activities across domestic and international operations.
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes while ensuring timely, accurate financial reporting.
- Manage complex international financial operations, including multi-currency consolidations, transfer pricing, foreign tax compliance, international payroll, and global cash management.
- Oversee relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, legal counsel, banking partners, insurance providers, and other professional service organizations.
- Review commercial contracts, lease agreements, legal matters, and other financial agreements to identify risk and ensure sound business practices.
- Continue optimizing the organization's ERP platform while improving financial reporting, business intelligence, and system integration.
- Develop meaningful financial reporting and analysis to support executive decision-making and improve business performance.
- Drive continuous process improvements that strengthen internal controls, improve efficiency, and support scalable growth.
- Ensure timely completion of audits, tax filings, regulatory reporting, and statutory compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
- Partner closely with international finance teams to maintain consistency, collaboration, and financial accountability across global operations.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a U.S.-based finance and accounting team of five employees.
- Foster a collaborative, team-oriented culture built on accountability, communication, and continuous improvement.
- Establish priorities, delegate responsibilities, and provide leadership across the finance organization.
- Serve as an approachable, hands-on leader who partners effectively across all departments and levels of the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Progressive finance leadership experience with the breadth of knowledge to oversee accounting, tax, treasury, payroll, legal matters, and international finance functions in a hands-on environment.
- Experience overseeing international finance operations, including multi-currency consolidations, transfer pricing, foreign tax compliance, and global financial reporting.
- Experience leading finance within a product-based, distribution, manufacturing, or consumer products organization. Experience overseeing budgeting, forecasting, treasury, accounting operations, audits, tax compliance, and financial reporting.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, corporate finance, and financial reporting best practices.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships across executive leadership, operations, international teams, and external business partners.
- Ability to thrive in a hands-on, entrepreneurial environment where flexibility, accountability, and ownership are essential.
Preferred Experience
- Supporting ERP implementations or major system enhancements; experience with Acumatica or comparable ERP platforms is highly desirable.
- Utilizing Power BI or similar business intelligence and reporting tools is preferred.
- Supporting global operations across multiple countries.
- Working within a privately held or entrepreneurial organization.
- Managing a lean finance organization while remaining actively involved in day-to-day operations.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Primarily office-based executive leadership position.
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds.
- Flexibility to support international operations, including periodic early morning meetings with global teams.
Travel
- Occasional international travel (once a year) required to support global finance operations and business initiatives.
Pay: $225,000.00 - $250,000.00 per year
