We're looking for motivated individuals who enjoy working with their hands, solving problems, and learning how large-scale mechanical systems operate. In this role, you'll work alongside experienced trades professionals to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair the piping systems that keep Purdue's campus running.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Learn to install, maintain, and repair plumbing, steam, water, air, and gas piping systems.
- Assist skilled trades personnel with repairs to valves, pumps, fittings, gaskets, and related equipment.
- Help maintain campus heating, cooling, and utility distribution systems.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to complete maintenance and repair work.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and piping issues and assist with corrective repairs.
- Perform preventive maintenance to help ensure reliable operation of campus facilities.
- Follow all safety procedures and participate in required training programs.
The typical work schedule for this position is Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Qualified Candidates Will Need:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 0-2 years of experience in steam system repair
- 0-2 years of residential, commercial or municipal plumbing
- Cross-connection (backflow) certification preferred
