Handyman / Maintenance Technician (Tiered Pay $25-$30+/hr)

Tauber Homes is hiring a skilled and reliable Handyman / Maintenance Technician to join our repair and renovation team. This is a full-time position with steady hours, tiered pay based on experience, benefits, and clear paths for advancement.
Start Date: Between August 17 and August 31, 2026
Hiring Process:
- Zoom interview to discuss past experience, tools, vehicle, and general interview questions
- Position offered from Zoom interview and/or a secondary phone call interview
- Onboarding paperwork completed after hiring
Training:
- 2 weeks of paid training at $25/hour alongside a senior member of our team
- Training schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
- At the end of training, tier placement and hourly rate will be assigned based on qualifications and performance
Position Details:
- Full-time, Monday–Friday
- Starting location: our Cranberry Township office daily
- Frequent travel to properties across the greater Pittsburgh area (average 700-1,000 miles per pay period)
- Mileage reimbursement at $0.70 per mile, plus paid drive time between jobs
- Overtime and double-time pay available but not required
Pay Tiers:
Tier 1 — $25/hour
General handyman knowledge and repairs, grass cuts, clean out/clean up, and similar general maintenance work.
Tier 2 — $27/hour
All Tier 1 work, plus proficiency in at least 80% of the following: toilet replacement, faucet replacement, light and ceiling fan replacement, door knob rekeying, basic plumbing knowledge, basic electrical knowledge.
Tier 3 — $30/hour
All Tier 1, at least 90% of Tier 2, plus advanced knowledge of at least 80% of the following: appliance repair, basic HVAC knowledge (thermostat replacement, AC diagnostic and cleaning, basic furnace diagnostic), larger plumbing jobs, advanced electrical knowledge.
Tier advancement is possible over time. If you come in ready to perform at Tier 2 or Tier 3 level during training with our senior team, that is where we will start you.
Responsibilities:
- Picking up keys and supplies from our Cranberry Township office
- Completing repairs, inspections, and estimates at rental properties
- Using company software to log job notes, track progress, and upload before/after photos
- Communicating effectively with supervisors, office staff, and property managers
- Maintaining professionalism while representing the company at tenant and owner properties
Requirements:
- Valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation
- Cell phone
- Own basic hand tools (required for all tiers)
- Strong communication skills and reliability
- Ability to work independently and manage daily task lists
Pay Reviews:
- 90-day pay review with potential for a raise based on performance, efficiency, and general knowledge
- Additional pay reviews annually or upon request
Growth & Advancement:
- Potential for a company vehicle after 3 years of full-time employment
