Job Description Plan a program of study that fosters a coherent and rigorous progression of learning, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students and employs a variety of instructional techniques.Can demonstrate proficiency on all traditional band instruments (winds and percussion).Organize daily class time so that preparation, rehearsal, and instruction can be accomplished within allotted time and provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.Program effectively a repertoire that is grade-level and performance-appropriate.Plan, rehearse, and direct pupils in musical programs for school and community.Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.Assess the progress of students on a regular basis and use these assessments to inform instruction.Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.Plan and collaborate with special education teachers and classroom aides in order to support academic progress of students on Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), 504 Accommodation Plans, or any other education plans.Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in supporting students.Closely collaborate with departmental colleagues regularly and support departmental events and performances.Communicate effectively with colleagues and families, sharing information about expectations, schedules and events.Control the storage and use of school-owned property; make minor adjustments and request repairs to instruments as required.Communicate effectively with all stakeholders (families, team members and student assistance team) on pupils progress.Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the school and self-selected professional growth activities related to music.Attend staff, team meetings and department meetings.Other duties as assigned.
