We are looking for an organized, motivated, and customer-focused Service Writerto join our Service Department. We are seeking an experienced Marine Service Writer (3–5 years) to act as the primary liaison between our boat owners and our technical service team. You will oversee work orders from initial intake through final sea trial and delivery, ensuring timely communication, accurate billing, and exceptional customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet owners and captains, assess service requests, inspect vessels, and document detailed scopes of work.
- Open, update, and close work orders; coordinate technician schedules and dispatch service assignments.
- Track labor hours, sub-contractor costs, and parts ordering to build precise estimates and final invoices.
- Provide proactive updates to clients regarding repair timelines, scope changes, and warranty claims.
- Stage vessels for pickup/launch and perform quality checks prior to client handover.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 3–5 years of dedicated service writing or service coordination experience in a marine dealership, boatyard, or repair facility.
- Systems: Proficiency with marina/dealership management software (DockMaster experience strongly preferred).
- Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of marine propulsion (outboards, inboards, sterndrives), basic marine DC/AC electrical, plumbing, and general boat maintenance.
- Languages: English fluency required; conversational or professional fluency in Spanish, French, or Italian is a significant advantage.
- Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail in tracking billable hours.
