Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Labor & Delivery to join our dynamic healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to women during labor, delivery, and postpartum periods, ensuring safety and comfort at all times
- Monitor fetal heart rates and maternal vital signs using advanced EMR/EHR systems, documenting accurately in accordance with hospital protocols
- Assist with procedures such as suturing, catheterization, IV infusion, and neonatal resuscitation procedures when necessary
- Educate patients and their families on labor progress, pain management options including epidural anesthesia, and postpartum care instructions
- Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatal teams, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate optimal patient outcomes
- Maintain sterile techniques and aseptic procedures during all invasive interventions to prevent infections
- Respond swiftly to emergency situations such as fetal distress or maternal complications by following critical care emergency response procedures
Experience
- Valid RN license with current state registration and certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification preferred
- Prior experience working in Labor & Delivery units within teaching hospitals or Level I/II trauma centers highly desirable
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation and patient tracking
- Experience with advanced obstetric procedures including labor management, cesarean sections, and postpartum assessments
- Knowledge of obstetric medications administration, pain management techniques, and fetal monitoring technology
- Familiarity with infection control standards specific to maternity care environments
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations calmly while delivering compassionate patient care
