Overview
Batteries Plus is seeking an experienced Store Manager to lead daily operations at our Mesquite location. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives on running a tight ship - managing a team of associates, holding the store to high operational standards, and partnering directly with ownership to hit aggressive growth targets. The owner remains actively involved in commercial sales and strategy; the Store Manager is the internal operator who makes sure the store runs flawlessly every day.
General Function
Lead and supervise all store associates while overseeing daily, weekly, and monthly store operations. Deliver a consistently excellent customer experience, drive retail sales performance, maintain inventory and merchandising standards, enforce safety and compliance protocols, and ensure the store opens and closes correctly every single day.
Essential Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Oversight
- Directly supervise all Inside Sales Representatives and store associates
- Build the weekly schedule, manage time-off requests, and ensure adequate coverage during peak hours
- Train new hires on POS, technical services (battery installs, phone repair, key cutting/fob programming), and customer service standards
- Conduct ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and disciplinary documentation (write-ups for no-call/no-show, insubordination, safety violations, and checklist non-compliance) in coordination with ownership
- Enforce all store policies including substance abuse, workplace safety, and PPE compliance
- Hold associates accountable to opening, mid-day, and closing checklists
Daily Operations
- Open and close the store, including register reconciliation, deposit preparation, and end-of-day reporting
- Ensure the sales floor, technical work area, and restroom are clean, stocked, and customer-ready throughout the day
- Personally handle escalated customer issues and walk-in commercial inquiries, then route commercial leads to the owner for follow-up
- Monitor and improve walk-in conversion rates and average ticket size
- Oversee loss prevention; investigate and report any unusual activity or shrink concerns immediately
Weekly Operations
- Conduct weekly cycle counts on all SKUs and reconcile variances
- Review the prior week's sales reports with ownership; identify trends, slow movers, and opportunities
- Place inventory replenishment orders and manage incoming/outgoing shipments
- Lead a weekly team huddle to communicate priorities any process changes
- Inspect store merchandising - endcaps, shelf labels, promotional displays - and reset as needed
Monthly Operations
- Complete monthly physical inventory counts and submit reconciliation reports to ownership
- Audit safety compliance, PPE inventory, and SDS documentation
- Submit monthly performance summaries on team productivity, training completion, and operational KPIs
Technical & Service
- Maintain personal proficiency in all in-store services: battery installation and testing, cell phone and tablet repair (screens, batteries, components), vehicle key cutting and key fob programming
- Serve as the technical escalation point when associates encounter difficult repairs or diagnostics
- Ensure all technical work meets quality standards before the customer is charged
Merchandising & Inventory
- Own end-to-end inventory accuracy, including receiving, stocking, rotation, and adjustments in the POS system
- Maintain accurate shelf label pricing across the store
- Build and break down displays; manage shelves and fixtures
- Coordinate deliveries (in-store, third-party, or via company trailer) and confirm proof of delivery
