Coaching Duties & Responsibilities:

Integrate Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy throughout all sport activities. Comply with the Statement of Faith, Educational Philosophy and Objectives, the Christian Role Model Expectations, the employee, staff relations, and parent handbooks, and be committed to upholding them.
- Follow school procedures and policies in administrative and sport-related matters that are set by the Employer. The coach is responsible for ensuring that these policies and procedures are carried out.

The role of the coach is not just coaching, but will vary from instructor, assessor, friend, mentor, facilitator, chauffeur, demonstrator, adviser, supporter, fact finder, motivator, counselor, organizer and planner.

Need to create the right conditions for learning to happen, find ways to motivate the athlete and assist athletes in developing to their full potential.
- Responsible for training athletes in a sport by analyzing their performances, instructing in relevant techniques, skills and tactics and providing encouragement. The coach should provide guidance for the athlete in life and in their chosen sport.

Demonstrate knowledge of rules and regulations of the sports to be coached. This is acquired through play and studying the sport.
- Coaches will hold tryouts for the students of the school, and observe the students’ skills with trials and practices. It is the coaches who make the final decision on the selection of team members.
- Once the team is organized, the coaches begin to train the students throughout the pre-season process. Coaches assign the specific student athlete positions and come up with drills and organized game strategies.

During the sport season, all coaches are required to arrive at every game ready to guide their team throughout the match-ups. If any necessary changes have to be made during the game, the coaches will be in charge of authorizing and implementing them.

Demonstrate and commit to excellent communication with parents and students to maintain the VCS standard of excellence in all areas of performance.

Be accountable to become proficient in technology resources and applications that are necessary for the completion of the coaching job.
- Keep students, parents and the administration adequately informed of progress or deficiencies and give early and often notice of improvement needed.
- Know the procedures for dealing with issues of an emergency nature, and responsible for the safety and health of the student athlete.
- Inform the administration in a timely manner if unable to fulfill any duty assigned.
- If a coach is employed in the dual capacity of a teacher, they also have to meet the necessary requirements to be employed as a teacher.

4. Demonstrate the ability to accept and carry out responsibilities and make competent, professional decisions.

7. Ability to follow the Matthew 18 Principle in dealing with Leadership, faculty, administration, and parents.

Educational Requirements:
1. Certified in first-aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)and AED training.
