Duties
- Assist with meal preparation, following established recipes and portion guidelines to ensure consistency and quality
- Operate various kitchen equipment safely, including knives, slicers, ovens, and food processors
- Prepare ingredients through slicing, chopping, cooking, and plating to meet menu specifications
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and kitchen areas in accordance with food safety standards
- Support menu planning by suggesting ideas that align with dietary needs and customer preferences
- Follow proper food handling procedures to ensure safety and prevent contamination
- Collaborate effectively with kitchen staff and dietary team members to coordinate meal service and special dietary requests
Skills
- Previous experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of food safety management and sanitation practices
- Proficiency in food preparation techniques including slicing, cooking, and plating
- Excellent communication skills for working with kitchen staff and dietary teams
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment efficiently and safely
- Experience with menu planning, recipe adherence, and meal presentation
- Knowledge of catering processes and food industry standards for safety and quality
