Universal Logistics of Virginia, LLC (A wholly owned subsidiary of Estes Express Lines, Inc) is currently seeking a motivated and experienced District Operations Manager to join our team on one of our (The Home Depot) accounts located in the Worcester, MA.
Essential Functions
Reports to Account Operations Manager or Senior Operations Manager
Lead, guide and direct employees to include setting targets, monitoring performance, providing coaching, counseling and development. Accountable for the management of an efficient, clean and safe operation
Responsible for all hiring, training and terminations; assuring all paperwork is processed according to proper Company guidelines with appropriate levels of follow up with management on timely task completion
Enforce understanding and compliance with all Company policies and procedures, safety rules and government regulations
Visit Clients’ locations as needed to address issues and concerns, and to build strong inter-company partnerships
Communicate daily with drivers, dispatch, customers, and Sr. Management
Identify areas in need of improvement, develop and execute improvement plan
Supervise all Project Managers, Operation Supervisors and drivers assigned to multiple locations
Develop metrics and set goals for all assigned managers and drivers
Observe and evaluate driver functions and coach drivers on needed improvements
Conduct periodic driver meetings providing training on processes and procedures
Maintain an effective working relationship with other departments such as Safety, Sales, Claims, Loss Prevention, Customer Care, and Fleet Services
Oversee the day-to-day direction and management of operations
Supervise local drivers making deliveries end customer (Business, Homeowner, Jobsite)
Train drivers on customer delivery practices and expectations
Support customer relationship, oversee profit and cost controls
Ensure safety, service and quality measures are followed
Investigate damage claims, accidents and property damage, and negotiate settlements up to $1,500.00

Qualifications
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background. Bachelor’s degree preferred
One to three years’ experience in customer service and/or transportation
One years’ supervisory experience preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
Excellent communication skills (listening, verbal, written)
Customer service focus
Problem solving and analytical ability
Prioritization and time management skills
Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities
Must be able to lift approximately 20 lbs., or more if required by the essential functions of the job

Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, random drug and/or alcohol tests, and will be subject to a criminal history background check
Must be authorized to work in the United States
